The Pilates Reformer
The Pilates Reformer is considered to be the most recognized piece of equipment in the choices of tools to use as a PCI Pilates teacher.
The Pilates reformer is the most famous of all the Pilates apparatuses. You can find the Pilates reformer in almost every Pilates studio and it was the first piece of equipment that manufacturers made and sold to the public for personal use. The reformer got it’s name because it was used in “reforming the body”.
The reformer has a moving carriage that allows exercises to have a wide range of difficulty levels from beginner students to those advancing in their Pilates repertoire. The spring resistance paired with the moving carriage allows the teacher to advance or modify exercises according to the student’s level. The spring weight and straps encourage the client to work at controlling different movements in various planes. Another unique part of the reformer is the moving foot bar that can be used for both the feet or hands. With over a hundred classical exercises the possibilities on the reformer are endless.
